History

专业沿革

公共艺术专业是在美术学科和设计学科基础上形成的新的、跨学科的专业,具有广泛的社会需求。广州美术学院雕塑与公共艺术学院在2009年设立公共艺术专业方向(2014年更名为公共雕塑专业方向),开展公共艺术专业的人才培养与教学实践,2018年广州美术学院以公共雕塑专业方向为基础设立公共艺术专业。经过十余年的教学探索与实践,已基本形成专业定位清晰、培养目标准确、课程体系完整、师资结构合理的人才培养模式和教学体系。办学地点位于广州美术学院大学城校区。

Public Art is a new interdisciplinary program formed based on fine art and design disciplines for a wide range of social needs. The School of Sculpture and Public Art, GAFA founded Public Art concentration in 2009, which was renamed Public Sculpture concentration in 2014, to train public art talents. In 2018, GAFA founded Public Art program based on Public Sculpture concentration. After more than 10 years’ exploration and practice, we have basically formed a talent training model and teaching system with clear positioning, accurate training goal, mature curriculum system and reasonable faculty structure. Courses are now offered at GAFA Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Campus.

公共艺术专业以“艺术的公共性研究”为学术导向;以“以艺术的方式构建公共精神”为专业目标;以艺术学、城市设计学和社会学为理论基础;以城乡公共空间为研究对象和实践场所;以新观念、新媒介、新技术、新材料为艺术创新媒介;以公共雕塑、综合艺术装置、艺术空间营造、艺术策划与传播为艺术手段;以‘艺术服务社会’为人才培养目标,形成艺术性和社会性相结合、国际性和在地性相结合、学术性和实践性相结合的复合型交叉学科

Public Art focuses on “public art research” and aims to “foster public spirit through art”. Based on the theories of art, urban design and sociology, we conduct research and practice in urban and rural public areas. With new ideas, new media, new technologies and new materials as artistic innovation media, and public sculpture, comprehensive art installation, art space construction, art planning and communication as artistic means, we strive to train talents to “serve the society with art” and establish a compound interdisciplinary discipline combining art and society, international and local elements and academy and practice.

公共艺术专业通过艺术与社会、艺术与城乡公共空间、艺术与公众的复合交叉研究与教学,强调艺术介入社会空间的综合价值以及与当代城市文化发展形成互动,构建公共精神和提升城市文化形象,旨在培养具有公共观念的,从事城市设计及公共艺术创作、教学和科研的复合型专业人才。随着广州美术学院佛山新校区的建设,公共艺术专业将以三维数字艺术为方向,进一步探索虚拟现实空间的艺术呈现与数字时代的艺术人才培养。

Through compound and interdisciplinary research and teaching combining art and society, art and urban and rural public areas, and art and the public, Public Art stresses the comprehensive value of art in social space and its interaction with contemporary urban cultural development. We will construct public spirit and improve a city’s cultural image. Our goal is to train compound professionals with public awareness who can engage in urban design and public art creation, teaching and scientific research. After our Foshan Campus is completed, Public Art will develop 3D digital art and further explore the artistic presentation of virtual reality space and the training of artistic talents for the digital era.

公共艺术专业学制四年,毕业授予艺术学学士学位。专业以严谨、扎实的基础造型课程训练,使学生掌握雕塑造型、空间造型和三维数字造型的建构能力;以完整、系统的专业理论课程,使学生建立具有公共意识的设计创作理论基础;以综合的、多种媒介的材料课程实验,使学生掌握金属、光电、机械、数码等综合材料和技术的运用与拓展,丰富公共艺术表达语言;以实际案例的创作实践课程,使学生掌握公共艺术创作的观念、思维、方法和路径,为进入社会及就业建立相应的经验与能力。

This 4-year program grants the Bachelor of Arts degree. Through rigorous and solid training in basic modeling courses, our students can master sculpture modeling, space modeling and 3D digital modeling. Well-designed and systematic specialized theory courses help students master design creation theory with public consciousness. Comprehensive and multimedia material experiments help students master the application and expanded application of metal, photoelectric, mechanical and digital materials and technologies and enrich students’ public art expression. Creation practice courses with practical cases help students master the concept, thinking, methods and paths of public art creation and prepare them with experience and capabilities necessary after graduation.

课程体系

公共艺术专业建立了围绕五个能力构建而形成了“理论教学、造型基础教学、材料与媒介教学、城市空间教学、公共艺术创作教学”五大课程板块,支撑公共艺术专业多维教学体系。公共艺术专业核心课程有:公共艺术概论、城市空间理论、立体构成、空间造型基础、数字雕塑、纤维雕塑、新媒介艺术实验、互动装置、综合材料、城市公共空间调研与艺术介入、数字雕塑创作、公共雕塑创作、公共艺术策划、纪念性公共艺术创作、毕业创作等。

Public Art sets 5 course sections for 5 capabilities: Theory Teaching, Basic Modeling Teaching, Materials and Media Teaching, Urban Space Teaching, and Public Art Creation Teaching, to support the multi-dimensional teaching system. Core courses include Introduction to Public Art, Urban Space Theories, 3D Composition, Basic Space Modeling, Digital Sculpture, Fiber Sculpture, New Media Art Experiment, Interactive Devices, Comprehensive Materials, Urban Public Space Investigation and Art Intervention, Digital Sculpture Creation, Public Sculpture Creation, Public Art Planning, Commemorative Public Art Creation, Graduation Creation, etc.

师资队伍

公共艺术专业教学团队现有教师10名,师生比为1∶11。职称结构为教授2人,副教授5人,讲师3人,形成了合理的梯队层次;年龄结构为50岁以下8人,占80%。团队学历结构为博士4人,在读博士2人,硕士4人,为高水平教学奠定良好师资基础。在现有师资队伍的基础上,公共艺术专业多次聘请日本著名环境造型家松尾光神、中国美术学院马钦忠教授、广州美术学院吴卫光教授等国内外著名学者参与公共艺术专业课程教学,极大的提升了公共艺术专业的国际化视野。

Public Art now is staffed by 10 teachers for about 110 students, including 2 professors, 5 associate professors and 3 lecturers, who form a reasonable faculty structure. Among all our teachers, 8 are below 50, accounting for 80%. As for education background, 4 hold the doctor’s degree, 2 are doctoral candidates and 4 are postgraduates. Our teachers guarantee high-level teaching. In addition, we hire many famous Chinese and international scholars, such as Japanese famous environmental stylist Matsuo Mitsunobu, Prof. Ma Qinzhong from China Academy of Art, and Prof. Wu Weiguang from GAFA, to lecture on public art, which has greatly improved the international vision of our students.

教学条件

 公共艺术专业设置在广州美术学院雕塑与公共艺术学院,公共艺术专业和雕塑专业教学及办公面积为3688㎡(实验室除外),有专业课室6间,工作室5间,多媒体课室1间,阅览及资料室1间,综合办公室1间,多功能展览馆一个。现可用于公共艺术专业实验教学的实验室共13个,校外实践教学基地7个,形式多样,涉及雕塑铸造、玉雕、数字雕塑等学科领域,实验设备先进,实习基地数量充足,为专业开展教学、科研工作提供了有力条件。

Public Art is affiliated to the School of Sculpture and Public Art, GAFA. Public Art and Sculpture programs have 3,688㎡ teaching and office areas (except laboratories), 6 professional classrooms, 5 studios, 1 multimedia classroom, 1 reading and reference room, 1 comprehensive office, and 1 multifunctional exhibition hall. At present, there are 13 laboratories for public art experimental teaching and 7 off-campus practice teaching bases. These facilities in various forms cover sculpture casting, jade carving, digital sculpture and other disciplines. Advanced experimental equipment and adequate practice bases firmly guarantee our teaching and scientific research.

教学成果

公共艺术专业2021年被广东省教育厅评为广东省“一流专业”,并在2014年和2020年分别获得广州美术学院教学成果奖三等奖和二等奖,2020年公共艺术教学团队获得广州美术学院省级教学团队培育。公共艺术专业自设立以来承担各级科研项目53项,其中国家级3项,省市级26项,校级24项;创作作品共获得省级以上专业展览奖23项,其中国家级6项,省级15项;在专业杂志上发表论文累计28篇,其中国家级核心期刊7篇,省级刊物19篇;编著出版专业著作4本,取得了丰富的教学成果。所培养学生先后获得“全国美展”、“广东省美展”、“曾竹韶雕塑奖学金”、“明天雕塑奖”、“黎明创作奖学金”等专业展览奖项40余项,获得社会的广泛认可。

In 2021, Public Art was rated as a first-class program in Guangdong Province by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. We won the second and third prizes of the GAFA Teaching Achievement Award in 2014 and 2020. In 2020, our teaching team received the training of GAFA’s provincial teaching team. Since our establishment, we have undertaken 53 scientific research projects at all levels, including 3 national projects, 26 provincial and municipal projects, and 24 GAFA projects. Our works have won 23 awards at provincial and higher-level professional exhibitions, including 6 national awards and 15 provincial awards. Totally 28 papers have been published in professional journals, including 7 in national core journals and 19 in provincial journals. Besides, 4 professional books have been compiled and published, and abundant teaching achievements have been made. Our students have won more than 40 professional exhibition awards, such as the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, Fine Arts Exhibition of Guangdong Province, Zeng Zhushao Sculpture Scholarship, Tomorrow Sculpture Award, Li Ming Creation Scholarship, etc., and have been widely recognized by the society.
