中国画专业课程体系上划分为公共与基础课程、专业课程、全校通选课及创新创业选修课等四类课程。结合中国画画学传统和现代艺术教育经验，设置为临摹、写生与创作三大阶段，强调“四写”和“五大基础”，核心课程有书法、素描、白描、古典绘画临摹、专业写生、创作基础、艺术考察、中国美术史和西方美术史、毕业创作和毕业论文写作等。
实践教学环节注重传授知识与技能训练相结合；注重直观教学与启发引导相结合；注重规范要求与因材施教相结合，强调教学过程贯穿对画史、画论、经典作品的全面学习并融入课程思政。采用教材分析、作业集中讲评、个别辅导、课堂示范、师生讨论、课程总结等教学环节，确保教学大纲的落实和教学效果的提升。
Courses offered can be divided into four types: public and basic courses, professional courses, general electives, and innovation and entrepreneurship electives. Drawing on Chinese painting traditions and experience in modern art education, we train students by three stages, copying, sketching and creation. Core courses are Calligraphy, Sketching, Line Drawing, Copy of Classical Paintings, Professional Sketching, Basics of Creation, Art Inspection, Chinese History of Fine Arts, Western History of Fine Arts, Graduation Creation, and Graduation Thesis, which focuses on “four writings” and “five foundations”.
The faculty attaches importance to imparting of knowledge and skills training, combines teaching and enlightenment, teaches students in accordance with their aptitude while following standardized requirements, and emphasizes comprehensive learning of painting history, theories and classic works. Varied forms of teaching, including textbook analysis, comments on assignments, individual counseling, classroom demonstration, teacher-student discussion, curriculum summary, are adopted to improve teaching.
