The renovation projects of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts History Museum and the Lingnan Painting School Memorial Hall both won the Gold Prize in the Architecture Design category at the 2026 MUSE Design Awards.

岭南画派纪念馆改造充分尊重原建筑的历史价值，并根据新的定位和使用需求，进一步挖掘场所的潜力，尝试将建筑的公共性、场地的物质性和空间的具身性作为一种新纪念性设计的策略，重构建筑、场地与城市的关系，以新的动线、材料与光影，激发公众的停留、互动与反思。新的审美形式将从以视觉为中心的纪念性中逃逸出来，通过人们的身体活动和精神思考产生更加多样化的意义。
The renovation of the Memorial Hall of Lingnan Painting School fully respects the historical value of the original structure. In response to its new positioning and functional needs, it further explores the potential of the site by treating the building’s public nature, the materiality of the site, and the embodied quality of space as a strategy for a renewed commemorative design. This approach redefines the relationship between the architecture, the site, and the city. Through redesigned circulation, material choices, and the interplay of light and shadow, it encourages the public to pause, interact, and reflect. The emerging aesthetic breaks away from visually centered monumentality, generating richer and more varied significance through bodily engagement and intellectual contemplation.

Narrative Architecture：the History Museum of GAFA

广州美术学院校史馆项目是为了庆祝广州美术学院建校70周年而设计。设计的核心在于如何改变过去封闭的展陈方式，通过建筑、景观、室内空间和展陈的一体化设计，把学校发展的重要历史节点通过空间叙事、媒体叙事、身体叙事得以解读并生成意义。以此为出发点，基于对现存校园旧建筑条件的充分利用，校史馆以一种剥离了风格意义上的形式，效率意义上的功能所剩下更为纯粹的“叙事装置”，弥补建筑的中立性和个人对其中的历史事件和场景的感知之间的鸿沟。
The Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts' History Museum Project, on the other hand, was designed to celebrate the Academy's 70th anniversary. The core of the design lies in transforming the past enclosed mode of exhibition. Through an integrated design of architecture, landscape, interior space, and exhibition display, it interprets and generates meaning for the crucial historical nodes of the school's development via spatial narrative, media narrative, and bodily narrative. Based on this starting point and making full use of the conditions of the existing old campus buildings, the History Museum acts as a "narrative apparatus" that is more pure, stripped of stylistic form and utilitarian function, bridging the gap between the neutrality of architecture and an individual's perception of the historical events and scenes within.
这两个荣获国际荣誉的建筑设计项目，均由广州美术学院伍端建筑工作室负责主持设计。
Both of these architectural design projects, which have received the highest international honors, were led and designed by the Wu Duan Architectural Studio of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.
此次获奖，是对团队在建筑设计中展现出的学术深度、文化理解与专业能力的国际认可，也展现了广州美术学院在跨学科设计与空间创新实践领域的卓越成果。
