History

专业沿革

广州美术学院于1980年开始招收第一批工业设计本科生,同年获得全国首批硕士学位授予权。2009年被教育部批准为“国家级特色专业”建设点和地方高校第一批本科专业综合改革试点。获得工业设计类专业广东省首批协同育人平台和省级专业综合改革试点。2012年,教育部新颁布的学科目录将“工业设计”划入工学门类机械类下,教学培养上保持了“艺科融合”的特色。2020年,入选“国家级一流本科专业”建设点,目前是“教育部高等学校工业设计专业教学指导分委员会”副主任单位,“广东省高等学校工业设计教学指导委员会”主任委员单位,成立了“广东省工业设计创意与应用研究重点实验室”。

In 1980, GAFA enrolled the first batch of undergraduates in Industrial Design and was allowed to confer master’s degrees. In 2009, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as an institution for national characteristic programs and one of the first comprehensive reform pilots for undergraduate programs. It was also appointed as the first collaborative education platform in Guangdong for industrial design and a pilot of provincial comprehensive professional reform. In 2012, the new program catalog released by the Ministry of Education classified Industrial Design under the category of engineering and machinery, so this program combines arts and science. In 2020, GAFA was selected for the construction of national first-class undergraduate programs. It is currently the deputy director of the Industrial Design Educational Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and the director of the Guangdong Province Educational Steering Committee. It has established the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Research on Industrial Design Creativity and Application.

In response to China’s development pattern, we make use of the industrial advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, focus on the application of core technologies such as smart manufacturing and information interaction, pay attention to sustainable social development, and train talents with international vision, social responsibility, innovation spirit.

This program fosters students’ ability to raise questions, deconstruct problems, design and implement creative solutions, and create new values and competitive advantages for products, systems, services, experiences, businesses. Our graduates are expected to become independent, innovative and creative design and management talents who can create excellent life experience.

Curriculum Design

培养规格

学制4年,学时3348,学分209。紧密对接粤港澳大湾区地域优势,坚持“设计服务于经济和社会发展”的理念,在智能制造、信息产业、新能源汽车、家居家电等领域有丰富的教学和实践经验;关注国际前沿设计理论与趋势,率先在国内建立交互设计专业方向,以交互体验和服务创新思维为核心,推进教学与实践。

The 4-year program covers 3,348 credit hours and 209 credits. Leveraging the geographical advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, it adheres to the concept of “design for economic and social advancements”. It has gained rich teaching and practical experience in smart manufacturing, information industry, new energy vehicles, home appliances and more. The program focuses on international cutting-edge design theories and trends, takes the lead in interaction design in China, and promotes teaching and practice with interactive experience and service innovation.

课程体系

为了建立跨专业的、更适合学科发展及产业趋势的“问题导向式”教学科研平台,学院以工业设计、产品设计、交互设计、染织艺术设计、服装与服饰设计专业(方向)为基础,建立“专业”的教学体制,负责本科学生第1-5学期的专业知识学习,主要课程有:解析与表达、构成与形式、人机工程学、信息与可视化、设计思维、材料与工艺、产品结构原理等

以社会需求和学院核心优势为导向,成立“智能与体验创新”、“产品与系统创新”、“文化与社会创新”、“纤维与空间创新”、“时尚与品牌创新”五个教学研究中心,负责本科生6-8学期的研究性学习,开设的主要课程有:用户研究进阶、交通工具设计概论、交通工具设计专题二、创新家居用品设计、智能产品项目实践、生活方式设计、服务与体验设计、智能产品项目实践、用户行为与家居产品设计、CMF与产品系统设计、产品服务系统设计、社会创新设计、文化整合创新设计文化研究与综合设计实践、毕业设计及论文等。

On the basis of a “problem-oriented” inter-professional teaching and research platform that follows the trends of the discipline and the industry, we have built a teaching system for undergraduate students in the 1st to 5th semesters. The teaching system focuses on industrial design, product design, interactive design, dyeing and weaving art design, and clothing and fashion design. Courses for this program include Analysis and Expression, Composition and Form, Ergonomics, Information and Visualization, Design Thinking, Materials and Technology, and Principles of Product Structure.

In view of social needs and the advantages of the program, we have established 5 teaching and research centers for intelligence and experience innovation, product and system innovation, cultural and social innovation, fiber and space innovation, fashion and brand innovation. They  are responsible for the research study for undergraduates from the 6th to 8th semesters, and offer courses including Advanced User Research, Introduction to Vehicle Design, Vehicle Design Workshop, Innovative Household Product Design, Smart Product Project, Lifestyle Design, Service and Experience Design, Smart Product and Project Application, User Behavior and Home Product Design, CMF and Product System Design, Product Service System Design, Social Innovation Design, Cultural and Innovative Design Research and Application, Graduation Design, and Graduation Thesis.

Faculty

师资队伍

以培养+引进的方式打造高质量的师资队伍,注重建设实践能力强的高水平“双师型”专业教学团队,提升教学能力、创新能力和社会服务能力。打造由专业教师、行业知名专家、企业家、文化传承人等跨界教学团队。超过60%的教师是双师型人才,教师团队具有正高、副高级职称的教师占比分别为13%、30%,获得博士学位和在读博士教师占比超50%。

We build a pragmatic faculty though training and recruitment. And we encourage faculty members to obtain professional qualifications and improve their capabilities in teaching, innovation and social services. The faculty is composed of professional teachers, well-known experts in the industry, entrepreneurs, and cultural inheritors. More than 60% of them have professional qualifications. Those with a senior or deputy senior title account for 13% and 30% respectively, and those with/pursuing a doctoral degree take up more than 50%.

教学条件

充分利用互联网技术,大力发展线上线下教学融合。鼓励教师使用网络工具进行课堂教学,建设网络精品课程,在各大教育网络平台共享(如超星平台、中国大学慕课等)。使用现代信息技术辅助教学,推进启发式、探究式、研究性教学等新教学方法。立足于粤港澳大湾区,打造一系列多方协同的国际资源融合平台,开展协同创新中心、联合工作坊,以满足国际化创新人才的培养需求,持续提升国际化教学水平

We leverage Internet technology for online and offline teaching. Teachers are encouraged to teach online, develop quality online courses and share them on major educational online platforms such as Chaoxing and iCourse163. They promote new teaching methods such as heuristic, inquiry-based and research-based teaching. Based in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, we aim to build international platforms for multi-party collaborative resource sharing, collaborative innovation centers and joint workshops to meet the global needs for innovative talents and improve education with an international perspective.

Achievements

教学成果

坚持以“学科-平台-团队-人才-项目”建设模式统领教学平台、师资队伍、人才培养建设。拥有国家级实验教学示范中心、省级实验教学示范中心等国家级、省级教学科研平台中心。工业设计专业教学团队获得省级优秀教学团队和广东省工业设计跨界创新团队。工业设计专业获得省教育厅高等教育教学改革项目10余项,其中基于“工作室+课题制”的教学改革获得广东省教学成果奖一等奖。承办历届全国大学生工业设计大赛(5届)和广东省高校工业设计大赛(9届),为设计类人才培养水平展示建立了全国性平台。引入创新创业教育理念,对接企业创客平台,开创面向工业设计领域的创新教育新模式。成立大学生校外实践教学基地30余项,打造创新创业基地(园区)和实践共享平台。鼓励学生参与各项创新比赛,以赛促教。近三年,学生参与省级以上的设计比赛200多项,其中国际奖项20余项,包括红点奖、iF设计奖、美国IDEA奖等。

We adhere to a “discipline-platform-team-talent-project” mode for teaching platform, faculty development and talent training. This program is home to national and provincial teaching and research centers such as the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the Guangdong Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. The faculty has won titles including Excellent Teaching Team of Guangdong and Cross-Sector Industrial Design Innovation Team of Guangdong. More than 10 projects on higher education teaching reform have been approved by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, among which the “studio + project” teaching reform won the first prize of the Guangdong Teaching Achievement Award.

We have organized 5 sessions of the China Universities Industrial Design Competition and 9 sessions of Guangdong Universities Industrial Design Competition, providing a national platform for displaying the achievements of design talents. This program embraces the concept of innovative and entrepreneurial education, connects with enterprises and makers, and creates a new mode of innovative education for Industrial Design. More than 30 off-campus bases for student practice have been established. Efforts are made to create innovation and entrepreneurship bases (parks) and sharing platforms. We encourage our students to participate in innovation competitions to improve themselves. In the past three years, students participated in more than 200 design competitions at or above the provincial level, and won more than 20 international awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Design Award, and the IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards).
